Let’s talk about Moss
-
What is Preserved Moss?
Preserved Moss is moss that was once alive, but has been harvested and has had its moisture replaced with Glycerol, a non-toxic, natural preservative. This allows moss to retain its color, structure, and plushness, while requiring no care. I only purchase moss from suppliers who sustainably harvest it from their moss farms.
-
Is it Alive?
The moss used in installations is preserved, which means it will no longer grow. Because it is no longer living, it is virtually maintenance free. It requires no sunlight, water, or fertilizer. Once installed, you can expect your moss to last approximately 5-10 years, depending on your environment.
-
Is it Pet Safe?
Yes! The moss I use is 100% pet, plant, and child safe. Coloring and preservation elements are GRAS (Generally recognized as safe) as well.
-
What are the Benefits?
Moss is an excellent example of biophilic art, which has been shown to reduce anxiety and uplift moods when installed in a space. Because it is maintenance free, it works for areas where there is no natural light, or are hard to irrigate. Moss walls are excellent at sound proofing and reducing echos. They are a natural, sustainable piece of art.
-
Can I put moss outside on my porch?
Installing moss outside is not reccomended. Light plays a large role towards the lifespan of your moss. Too much natural light can break your moss down very quickly, shortening its lifespan.
